Lovely Lounders

My friend & I stopped here for coffee & breakfast on the return leg of our lovely walk along the Torrens. All of the other reviews are spot on, this place is great. Great views, great setup, great staff, great food & great coffee. Whilst they don’t serve fresh juices, they do have a great unique selection of pre-packaged juices & drinks. The brioche breakfast burger was delicious, the perfect combination of bacon, scrambled eggs & onion jam. Looking forward to returning during another Torrens stroll.

What a delightful surprise!

Have often seen the sign pointing to a cafe down by the river, but had never checked it out until today when I was feeling tired and in need of a coffee and a break.

What a delightful spot – right by the edge of the river, close to the bridge and right by Popeye’s mooring spot. Seating inside and out. Cosy atmosphere. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. And for a small cafe, a great range of healthy and tempting light meals and snacks and delicious looking cakes. And very good coffee . Quite a find and looking forward to coming again.

Relaxing and delicious light lunch.

Found this charming and historic cafe by the river when searching online. Friendly people and not your usual ‘same old ‘ menu. A lovely, quaint place to spend an hour or two and there’s interesting live, not loud music sometimes on Sunday afternoons. Only open for breakfast/brunch/lunch, so come early.

Beautiful view and calm cafe, it’s really a hidden cafe in the city, we had breakfast here, good varieties for brunch.

Feel like to sit there and have a coffee, makes your day better. We had brunch there on Sunday, it was busy but the staff was friendly and the food was great. Loved this place, recommends to have visit there at least once.

Hidden Treasure on banks of River Torrens

I noticed this cafe a few wks ago while I was on popeye and sent my husband there for a work meeting with a Canberra colleague and they thought it was relaxing and enjoyable without the restaurant feel of too many interruptions and burgers also very good. I phoned Christine and booked for a group booking of 5 she was so lovely to chat to and said she would seat us outside. Our friend from UK was very impressed and really did not want to leave as it was a perfect day watching the water, swans, birds and boats go by. My seafood chowder was so delicious he is taking his boss from UK getting off the QE3 cruise for the day tomorrow for lunch again. Very reasonable priced interesting meals, my friends stuffed eggplant was also full of great flavours. Excellent wine list good value again on pricing. Staff were very efficient and friendly and would definitely recommend it to friends but not too many don’t want to miss out on a seat but booking is wise as it is a popular venue even for coffee, croissants, pancakes or Portuguese tarts. Well done everyone what an Adelaide gem!!!

Consistently brilliant

Since discovering Lounders I’ve been back four times. I’m happy to say I’m never disappointed. This is one of those rare finds that you try to keep to yourself to stop more people discovering your happy place.

For the grown-ups, there are some beautifully plated meals to be had – the Giant Prawns were amazing, and the Kransky dish was pleasantly surprising. There are choices for the fussy little eaters too, of which my two toddlers unanimously approved.
Hats off to the owners, staff and the chefs who make this place one of my favourite little escapes in the city.

Five stars because there is so little comparable. Lounders is away from the noisy hub of Torrens Lake actvity. It’s such a beautiful and quiet setting overlooking the river on the south east side of King William St bridge. Great coffee or tea, a cheese platter, bowl of chips or a meal, it is nicely served , fresh and tasty. There was a small band playing today inside so we chose outdoors where we could chat and enjoy the lower volume of music in the background. Well done staff, we’ll keep coming back. Prices well below eastern states. Visitors put this lunch or short break on your itinerary.
